Marcus gives a soft laugh and grins up toward the darkening sky, amused to think that a man like Dan, who can see and feel so much, has any sort of blind spot at all. He's glad he's the one in it, though, because it succeeds in making everything about this more surprising.

"Well, I've often been told I'm a bit unpredictable," he says. "Actually, it was really just one person and I believe the word he used was unstable, but in all fairness to him, I did often cause him to fear for his life."
