Somehow, Inej hasn't met Dan Torrance before the wedding. This is an oversight on her part, the Wraith worn out of her, probably due to the distraction of loss on her part. When she had received the invitation, it had not been surprising, exactly. Marcus has been an important part of her and Kaz's life for a while, is the twin's godfather, and has been a point of extra stability since Kaz, and later Tommy and Nina, left Darrow.

But she has been remiss. Normally, she knows the comings and goings of people, of the important aspects of the lives around her. Even if she is no longer a Spider in the streets and canals of Ketterdam, she hasn't lost that eerie talent of nosing in on other people's business and doing it as quietly and secretively as possible.
