"Before Darrow, I'd never been on a date," he answers as they head out to the truck, though not before he glances in the direction Dan has signaled. There's nothing there that he can see, but he trusts that Dan sees something, that something is there watching them.
"Between the two of us, I think we'll still manage to do alright," he says with a grin, opening the door of the truck for Dan before he goes around to the driver's side. It had felt like a date before, but there's something about the act of opening the door for Dan that really drives it home for Marcus. They aren't pretending to be anything else. He doesn't have to pretend any longer.
"I'm going to have some friends saying 'I told you so', though," he admits as he starts the truck and pulls away from the curb. "Not long before you arrived I had a few days of feeling rather sorry for myself, convinced nothing like this would ever happen for me again."
