Aug. 5th, 2017 09:44 pmHe had meant to go see Angela a few days ago, after she had called to tell him about Kat's arrival in Darrow, but he'd gotten distracted, as he often does, and he'd found himself at the Church instead, prepared to dive right back into a career he'd never necessarily wanted.
Being an exorcist was something he wanted, of course. Being an exorcist had given him purpose, had given him direction and life when he had sorely needed it, but being a priest often felt like just a requirement of the position he truly wanted. He was happy enough to follow the vows and do the work, he'd do anything for his God, after all, even if he wouldn't necessarily do the same for the Church, but he was doing it because that was what the Church required of him in order to give him work as an exorcist.
Going back had seemed like the right decision. There were things he'd have to give up, but he'd been prepared for that. To be ready for it, only to have it taken away again because of papers that shouldn't even apply to this bloody city had been a bit of a blow and so he'd retreated a little.
It's childish and selfish and so he forces himself out of it and calls Angela one afternoon, asking if she wants to meet him for lunch. It's an odd relationship they have, connected through demon possession and exorcism, but he likes her in her own right, which he can't say for too many people.
The diner he's suggested is accessible, he'd made sure of that before asking and now he's waiting outside, his hands in his pockets, watching for Angela.
